The Universal Station: for Transcription and Dictation |
|
Description: Normally, the Universal Station only sends one control tone per push of a foot pedal or hand microphone button (or hand microphone slide switch) and each function is mapped to a digit stored in memory location A0. Beginning with software revision 3.36, the Universal Station has been equipped with a feature called Multi-Tone. With the Multi-Tone feature enabled, the station can send up to seven tones with each button push, making it useable with dictation and transcription systems that have been designed or programmed to require this. |
|
This document describes how to program the Multi-Tone feature of the Universal Station. Before you begin, you may find it useful to review the basic programming information found in Hint #5 - Universal Station Programming Reference.
Materials Needed:
Procedure: To enable the station to send more than one tone when a function on the hand microphone/foot pedal is activated, the station will need to be reconfigured by reprogramming the contents of memory location A93. To enable this feature:
NOTE: This procedure assumes you are currently using the default value for memory location A93. If this is not the case, you can combine the above setting with your current A93 setting. Contact the factory if you are unsure how to do this.
Now the unit is configured to send more than one tone. Now, to program the
series of tones that you wish to send when a particular function is actuated
(i.e. when a button on the hand microphone/foot pedal is pressed), you
will need to program memory locations according to the following chart:
You can program any of these functions to send up to seven (7) tones when the corresponding button is actuated. For example, to program the station to send the three-digit code "123" when the hand microphone switch is moved to "STOP":
The unit will now send the code "123" whenever the hand microphone switch is moved to "STOP". Repeat this process for each function you wish to program with a tone or tones. Please note that the speed-dial memory locations A83-A89 will not be available while the Multi-Tone feature is enabled. For Further Assistance:

the Universal Station, please contact us.
