The Universal Station: for Transcription and Dictation |
|
Description: When using the Northeast Innovations Universal Station for dictation, normally one uses a hand microphone. However, if your Universal Station is equipped with software revision 3.32 or above, you have the option of using a footpedal along with a headset microphone or gooseneck microphone for dictation. We call this "hands free" dictation mode since your hands are not needed to control the station. This document describes how to program and use the station's "hands free" dictation function in three steps.
Before continuing, you may find it useful to review Hint #5 - Universal Station Programming Reference for basic information about programming the Universal Station. |

Programming for "hands free" dictation mode is now complete. The Universal Station will remember the new programming until it is either programmed differently or the unit is reset to factory defaults. This is true even if the unit is disconnected from power. Step 3: Determining and Changing Which Pedal Does What: The functions of the pedals differ depending on which type of footpedal you are using and which revision of software your Universal Station has. The diagrams that follow show the functions of the pedals.

Changing the Pedal Functions in "Hands Free" Mode: If you want to change what happens when you push a certain pedal on your footpedal, you can alter the digit that the station sends when the pedal is depressed. This can done by changing the programming in memory location A0. Please refer to Hint #5 - Universal Station Programming Reference for information about programming the Universal Station's A0 memory location. For Further Assistance:
