The Model 1040A provides all the telephone test line features of the Model 1040 plus:  Front Panel Indicators (Off-Hook and ringing for each line plus a power indicator)  Front Panel Test Jacks  Rear Panel Audio Jack The indicators provide a quick way to verify the operation of automatic telephone equipment such as answering machines, computer modems or FAX machines. The jacks on the front panel facilitate telephone test measurement by allowing you to tap into the two telephone test lines to monitor what is happening. The audio jack makes it possible to load audio messages into automated voice processing systems using a Model 1040A connected to one of the system's telephone line ports. You can also connect the audio jack to your computer's sound card.
